

PERFORMANCE
PIANIST
Robert is an accomplished jazz, classical and musical theatre pianist, and has performed an eclectic mix of professional engagements.
His experience playing improvised jazz (solo / small ensembles) and in big bands has included performances and events over the last 15 years, with a large variety of musicians and groups. Robert also performs in studio session recordings, and has facilities to record remotely.
Robert is a classically trained pianist, and has accompanied for ABRSM Graded Exams, soloists’ auditions and recitals, opera and theatre rehearsals, and Education Service rehearsals and performances. He has also accompanied for university jazz student undergraduate and postgraduate final recitals and assessments.
Stage musicals Robert has played include university and local productions of Les Misérables, Hairspray, Chicago, Into The Woods, I Love You You're Perfect Now Change, We Will Rock You, The Great Gatsby and Changes. He has composed and orchestrated for shows he has played for, for example The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Robert enjoys adding music to stage plays, and has played and / or composed for university productions of Streetcar Named Desire, The Glass Menagerie, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and The Trial, among others. He has also conducted a number of musicals, as described below.
He has had the great opportunity to attend workshops with eminent classical musicians John Wilson (conductor), Sir Thomas Allen (baritone) and BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, and with jazz musicians Scott Stroman, Neil Yates, Huw Warren, Tom Millar, Misha Mullov-Obbado, Sam Braysher, Conor Chaplin, Emily Saunders etc. As a volunteer, he has also performed at fundraising events for NSPCC, Macmillan Cancer Support, Blind Veterans UK, North Wales Wildlife Trust etc.

CONDUCTOR, BANDLEADER & STAGE MD
Robert is experienced in leading large ensembles of instrumentalists and vocalists in performances and recording sessions, and in organising these projects and composing / arranging the music required. He has extensive experience in leading big bands, including playing his own compositions and arrangements. This has included many different events such as concerts, dances, recording sessions, university performance lectures, viva voce performances, rehearsals, etc.
As a stage Musical Director, Robert has conducted several shows including a large-budget production of Guys and Dolls in Durham’s Gala Theatre.
