Robert’s wide-ranging musical background and creativity (developed both in playing improvised jazz and studying contemporary composition) enable him to compose original and creative incidental scores for screen. A tailored score significantly transforms a film, and is capable of hugely intensifying the emotions the audience experiences. Robert is keenly aware of the importance of sensitively crafting an engaging, emotive and responsive score, to support, convey and develop the film’s emotion and focus, for a compelling final product. He is experienced in collaborating with directors and producers - it is important to be aware of the nuances of the film and understand the director’s intentions to produce an effective and subtle score. He is adept at writing for live musicians, and also composes using sample libraries and synthesisers in conjunction with his own studio recordings.
